Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?
(James 2:5 NIV)
Hope for the Hopeless (H4H) has been born out of the urgent need to address the issues of the "outcasts" in our society. The Church in America has made some preliminary steps to reach out with the "social gospel" of help for humanity. But a more specific area of need is those who have received the new life of Christ, but remain "labeled" by the Church as untouchables, such as ex-felons, ex-drug addicts, ex-prostitutes, ex-homosexuals, and ex-sex offenders.
H4H stands for making a difference, for being "peculiar," for going against the flow, for doing the unpopular, even the unthinkable, touching the "lepers" with the healing power of Jesus, and then working with those He has healed to re-integrate them back into society. "From homeless and hopeless, to hope-filled homeowners." That's our vision. It's doing the impossible in the power of El Shaddai.
